A sixth man charged over an alleged plot to smuggle $60 million worth of cocaine into Australia by boat has been released on bail.

Vasilious Triantafilopoulos appeared before the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Friday charged with attempting to import a commercial quantity of cocaine after police seized 186 kilograms of the drug from a former commercial vessel near Hobart in December.

The Reservoir man, who was extradited to Victoria from Brisbane, was allegedly going to receive $100,000 for helping his co-accused reach the "mothership" containing the drugs before he pulled out of the venture after two failed attempts to sail into international waters.
