Vic patients missing out: health groups

Health organisations fear country Victorians are missing out on financial help when travelling for treatment.

Patients in country areas are delaying and avoiding treatment because of the travel expenses involved, Cancer Council Victoria support services director Nicola Quin says.

An alliance of health organisations, including the Cancer Council and Kidney Health Australia, want eligibility criteria reduced and travel rebates increased to improve financial assistance for patients who have to travel to Melbourne for medical treatment and specialist care.
