The Victorian Government has confirmed the Safe Schools coalition will continue as is across the State, despite Federal Government recommendations to change some aspects of the scheme.

Victorian Education Minister James Merlino has written to his Federal counterpart Simon Birmingham, saying he stands by his commitment to the program, and every Government secondary school will become members by the end of 2018.

Last month, the Federal Government released the findings of a review into the program and agreed to have it stripped back.

But Premier Daniel Andrews has taken to Twitter, showing his colleagues’ correspondence to Senator Birmingham, tweeting “we’re not winding back Safe Schools. End of story.”
