Gas bottle explosion hospitalises two men in Melbourne

Two men have been injured after a gas bottle exploded at a property in Melbourne's outer east.

Emergency services responded to the explosion in Upwey just after 1.30pm.

A 72-year-old man was airlifted to hospital with critical injuries, while a 32-year-old man was also hospitalised but with serious injuries.

The explosion ignited a small fire at the property, which was brought under control by fire crews.

Police said the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined and investigations are ongoing.
