It’s being billed as the union movement’s biggest campaign in more than a decade as it takes on big business over low wages growth and poor job security.
The ACTU (Australian Council of Trade Unions) today launched two advertisments highlighting the plight of workers who’ve missed out on fair pay increases, or who’ve been increasingly forced to take on casual work.

The ads will be hard to miss – over the next eight weeks they’ll appear on television, on radio, in newspapers, online and on billboards across the nation.
ACTU Secretary, Sally McManus, told 9NEWS that at a time when corporate profits and CEO salaries are up, workers are finding it tougher than ever to make ends meet.
“We’re in a crisis or record low wages growth. That is hurting working families right across the country, that they can’t keep up with the cost of living,” she said.
Ms McManus said the growing trend in Australia of using contract labour and casual jobs is not seen in most other developed countries. She wants to see rules forcing employers to make employees permanent after a period of time.
“We’re going to see a whole generation of young people who will not know what it’s like to have a sick day or a paid holiday,” she said.
Government ministers have already attacked the ad campaign as misguided and a waste of members’ money.
