Two women have been rescued from a rock ledge after becoming trapped in a sea cave south of Bronte in Sydney.

Emergency services were called to the cave near Waverly Cemetery after the women became trapped about 3pm.

A Surf Life Saving rescue boat spotted the pair and sent in a swimmer, who helped the women clamber onto the rock ledge.
