Diver rushed to hospital after going into cardiac arrest at Manly's Shelly Beach

A man has been rushed to hospital after going into cardiac arrest while diving at Manly's Shelly Beach.
A helicopter and a police boat were deployed to search for a second diver reported to be in the area, but a NSW Police spokesman later told 9news.com.au it appeared the man had been diving alone.
The man, believed to be aged in his 40s, was taken to Manly Hospital in a critical condition after going into cardiac arrest.

Emergency services were first called to the scene just after 5pm, after a member of the public raised the alarm.
Manly lifeguards rushed into the water and pulled the injured man to shore, Manly Council's general manager Henry Wong said.
The lifeguards performed CPR on the diver before paramedics arrived.
A NSW Ambulance spokeswoman could not confirm reports the man had been struck by lightning.
