Woman and three-year-old son crash into home after swerving to avoid traffic

A three-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after a car crashed into a house in Sydney’s south-west this morning.

The Nissan Pulsar was travelling down Lakemba Street when the boy’s mother, a 26-year-old red P-plate driver, swerved to avoid oncoming traffic.

The car left the road, smashed through a gate and ploughed into the front of a family home, causing part of the structure to collapse.

Resident Amy Khan was inside the home sleeping when the crash occurred. She said she heard the driver screaming for help.

“She was just calling for the ambulance like ‘help me, someone help me’,” she told 9NEWS.

“I woke up and I could just see the front [of] the house broken,” she said.

The young boy in the car was taken to Westmead Children’s Hospital with a cut to his hand.

His mother was taken to Canterbury Hospital and was later released.

She is assisting police with their enquiries.
