Two men have been charged over an alleged plot to smuggle two kilograms of meth into Perth.

Police believed a 76-year-old man, who had landed at Perth Airport on a flight from Melbourne on Tuesday, was carrying drugs on him after receiving intelligence about an alleged drug smuggler.

Western Australia police allege the bag he collected contained more than two kilos of methylamphetamine.

Officers then followed the man, as he got into a car with another man, aged 55, and drove to a home in Dayton.

They conducted a traffic stop and allegedly located methylamphetamine.

A search of the home uncovered $50,000 in cash, which they allege is money made from drug offences.

The 76-year-old man and a 55-year-old were arrested and charged.
