Turnbull laughs off call during interview

Malcolm Turnbull is a man in demand.

He can't even get through a television interview, such as on A Current Affair on Wednesday night, without being interrupted.

The prime minister says he usually keeps his phone on silent but that wasn't the case when it rang mid-chat with Tracy Grimshaw.

"I hope I was able to flick it off fairly dexterously," he joked to WSFM radio the next morning.

Heckled about his "standard"-sounding ringtone, Mr Turnbull asked the hosts what they thought the worst custom ringtone was.

"I sometimes see people who have dogs barking as their ringtone. That's always a bit disconcerting," he said.

"That's when Tony's (Abbott) ringing you," co-host Jonesy quipped, prompting a laugh from the prime minister.

"I couldn't possibly comment," the prime replied.
