Tributes are flowing for a two-year-old boy killed in the Dandenongs during last night's wild Victorian storm.

Eli Marnock died and his sister was injured after a 30-metre tree collapsed on their home about 9pm.

His sister, five, was rushed to hospital, but fears of internal injuries proved thankfully unfounded and she was released from the ICU earlier today.

Shocked neighbours have rallied in support, struggling to make sense of the tragic loss.

Neighbour Warren Soussa said he had known them “quite well”.

“So it’s very, very sad that there’s been a death on our road,” he said.

“This is the first time it’s happened in the 20 years I’ve been up here.”

Some have now claimed the tree had been on council land rather than private property.
