'You are an energy shifter': The Insta message that made Karl turn away
Today host Karl Stefanovic was left blushing after a direct message he sent to basketballer Patty Mills was read on live TV.
The team were interviewing the Olympic star after he helped secure a Bronze medal for the Boomers.
It became clear Stefanovic was a big fan of Mills.

Karl Stefanovic listened oblivious to the fact Ally Langdon was about to read his message. Today
"Patty, just wanted to share a message from Instagram that was sent to you," Ally said.
"Someone slid into your DMs. Let me paint you a picture. It is July 31. It is 11:00 at night..."
Horror quickly dawned on Karl.
"Don't you dare," he said to Ally.
The exact moment Karl realised it was his message. Today
Ally continued to read Karl's DM.
"You are incredible. Keep charging, brother," she read.
"Keep slaying them. When you inject your energy into the game it changes. You are an energy shifter. So powerful. Love watching you and your passion for the country. Awesome."
In a rare occurrence, Karl turned away mortified.

Ally then asked Mills if he would like to respond to Karl as he didn't on that fateful July evening.
"That's awesome mate," Mills said.
"Sounded like you had a few frothies watching the game, mate. I will have to join you one time."
Karl said he has "never been more embarrassed".
