Grammy-winning, mega-selling Canadian singer-songwriter The Weeknd is releasing new music which he describes as a "sonic universe".

A new line-up of stars including Tyler The Creator, Quincy Jones and Lil Wayne will feature on the album and curiously, comedian Jim Carrey has also earned himself a credit.

The Weeknd teased the new project in dramatic style and it is very sci-fi intergalactic.

Dawn FM will be out on Friday so we can all play the Weeknd over … the weekend.

In similar fashion to Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen, the estate of David Bowie has followed suit – selling his entire music catalogue with a deal reportedly worth $344 million.

Warner Music now reportedly owning the rights to Bowie's entire catalogue from 1968 through to 2016.

This comes just days before what would have been David Bowie's 75th birthday.
