Today host startled by toothy baby crocodile live on air
The 2025 Sunshine Coast Expo officially kicked off this morning, so Tim Davies was live on the ground with his latest weather forecast.
But when the Today host visited the Wildlife Unleashed tent, operators Mick and Adele Bender told him they had a surprise in store, "but he needed to close his eyes"... (always a good sign)...
"They've told me to trust them implicitly and they're going to put something in my hands and they promise me it's not going to be a snake," Timmy told Karl and Sarah.

And sure enough, after an unsuspecting Timmy read the national weather forecast, there was a surprise waiting in the palm of his hands - and no, it wasn't a snake.
"Okay, I feel feet and that's a good sign - it's quite cold though," a nervous Timmy said.
And sure enough, when Timmy did open his eyes - he saw exactly what Mick had placed in his hands.
"And it's a crocodile... okay. I think I probably would have preferred a snake... goodness me," he said.

Mick explained Timmy's new friend is Chomper, the saltwater crocodile and there was an important reason they decided not the tape shut Chomper's mouth prior to handing him to the Today host.
"We choose not to tape our crocodiles jaws, because it's a bit nicer for them to be able to open their mouths and it teaches people what happens if you touch a crocodile on the head," Mick laughed.
The Sunshine Coast Expo is running from September 26 - September 28 at the Kawana Sports Precinct in Bokarina.
