Biggest dating and relationship 'icks' revealed

The list of embarrassing things a potential partner can do seems to be growing longer in 2026, with some major "icks" a complete non-negotiable.

Today brought in relationship expert, Jana Hocking, to discuss some of the bigger dating faux pas, with some getting a resounding "I absolutely agree" from the team in studio.

"There is so much... where do I begin?" Jana told Karl and Sarah.

"A guy running for the bus, a guy wearing a backpack with his suit and plumber's crack... or worse... plumber's where you can see hair coming out the top."

The Today make-up team all agreed with these as major icks, but there were a few more the viewers at home insisted were also not cool.

Typing on your phone with one finger, wearing sunglasses indoors, ordering on behalf of your date at a restaurant and clapping when the plane lands were all major icks.

Karl added people who watch social media videos on loud when they are in public and Sarah almost brought up her breakfast talking about men who leave the toilet seat up.

"I hate that, it makes me sick and luckily Cyrus has never done that in his life," she said.

Today put the callout to viewers on what their biggest icks were and these included "grown men who use Snapchat", "When a man has bits of food still caught in their beard or moustache" and "long nails on hands or toes".
