Youth crime victim fed up after home broken into four times

A Brisbane man whose home has been targeted an astonishing four times said he is frustrated at how frequently it is happening.

Angelo Justus feels the state government isn't doing enough and is calling for tougher penalties against these repeat offenders.

"It takes a toll, every time you recover from an incident and get back to your routine, then bang - another incident," he told Today.

"There is a bit of relief that nothing major happened, they didn't come into our house, but we are certainly fearful with the frequency and the brazenness at which it is happening.

"With all these four incidents, there are 10 perpetrators involved and only one or two of them were ever caught, so 80 per cent of these culprits have never seen a police or been asked a question about these crimes - it's incredibly frustrating."

While Angelo is unsure if it is the same group targeting his Bulimba home, he said the break-ins are happening at such a high frequency around his neighbourhood, these thugs are just taking any opportunity they can.

Angelo was one of many Queensland residents who saw potential in what Premier David Crisafulli was promising in the lead-up to the state election.

But now Crisafulli is in power, Angelo said he is yet to see those actions take effect.

"I think on the ground nothing has changed, they need to review everything," he said.

"Because if you are not catching 80 per cent of the criminals, no matter how tough your legislations are, the adult time - adult crime threat is not going to work.

"The police do a good job whether they have resources to address this crime wave, but how many of these kids are being prosecuted? How many of them see any consequences?"
