Community heartbreak after former pro surfer killed in alleged one-punch attack
A friend of Chris Davidson has shared his community's heartache at losing the former pro surfer in an alleged one-punch attack on the weekend.
Tributes have continued flowing for the 45-year-old father, who was allegedly hit outside a pub in South West Rocks on the NSW Mid North Coast on Saturday night.
Close friend Nathan Hedge told Today Davidson "was robbed too early" of his life and will be deeply missed by the local surfing community.

"He had so much more life to give, to enjoy and cherish," Hedge told Today.
"I will miss his laugh, I will miss his practical jokes, I will just miss his passion."
Hedge said the tight-knit surfing community was taking it one day at a time and said everyone should tell the people closest to them how loved and cherished they are.

"It's just tragic. I mean, nobody wins, it's just the worst thing ever," he said.
"Not only has Chris' life been taken from us, the other person's life is shattered and ruined as well.
"Nothing positive can come out of this. It's the worst thing in the world and it's got to stop - it's not good enough, it's just got to end."
A 42-year-old man has been charged with assault causing death and the police investigation continues.
