Thrillseeking TODAY weatherman’s parasailing live cross comes unstuck

The TODAY Show weather presenter Stevie Jacobs' attempt to deliver his live cross from the air went spectacularly wrong this morning. 

An apprehensive Jacobs, visiting Queensland’s sandy Tangalooma Island resort, opened his segment sitting on the back deck of a boat with a parachute attached.

That apprehension soon turned into outright fear, with the intrepid reporter shrieking as he was dragged into the air behind the boat for a short parasail.

As he battled to maintain his composure, Jacobs interspersed his appraisal of the world’s third largest sand island with a running commentary of his concerns for his safety.

“I think I’m in the chute,” he cracked as the rest of the TODAY team were left howling with laughter from the dryer comforts of the Sydney studio.  

Reeled in by a scrambling crew member, 48-year-old Jacobs made a crash landing back onto the boat  and collected the camera in an inelegant landing.

“That’s probably not a great shot to finish on,” he said, suspended upside down and with his back to his viewers.

“We’ll be coming to you from somewhere else in Queensland tomorrow.”
