'Tragedy waiting to happen': Boy, 3, hit by car in Perth driveway
A Perth toddler is recovering in hospital after being struck by a car in a driveway, leaving him with skull fractures.
The three-year-old boy had been drawing with chalk in the driveway of the family's Innaloo home about 4pm on Sunday when a driver quickly turned into the complex.
Mum Amy Slater said she was just metres away when the Mitsubishi Outlander hit her child.

She said she cradled her injured son in the driveway until an ambulance arrived.
"This one (car) just came out of nowhere and I saw everything," Slater said.
"As a mother you just — what could I have done? What else was there to do? It wasn't anything I did."
Witnesses ran to help as the distraught 29-year-old carried her young boy.
Paramedics rushed the three-year-old to Perth Children's Hospital.
He was found to have two fractures to his skull.

"They're gonna assess the swelling and things, so if there's anything that happened on the head then we will be finding that out," Slater said.
Windell Street residents are now pushing for greater road safety measures, like speed bumps.
Witnesses said the 31-year-old driver of the vehicle stopped to check on the boy.
"This has been quite traumatic for everybody," neighbour Anahita said.
"Because we were all so scared a child would be run over — This was just a tragedy waiting to happen."

The heartbroken mother is now pleading with drivers to take greater care.
"You have to slow down, definitely have to slow down," Slater said.
"No parent should have to see their child go through that.
"(I'm) just praying he makes a full recovery and comes back, makes a full recovery and bounces back."
