Five taken to hospital after Perth balcony collapse
Three people have been seriously injured at a holiday rental home north of Perth after the balcony they were standing on collapsed, dropping them three metres.
Ten people were standing on the second-storey balcony taking photos when an entire section gave about 1.50pm local time yesterday.
Nine News reports the people were celebrating a wedding engagement at the home, in the small coastal town of Lancelin, 130 kilometres north of Perth.
Witness Pio Donato told Seven News: "I heard a bit of noise and a bit of screaming ... so I come across and I saw all these people there on the ground".
A 28-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man were taken to hospital with suspected spinal injuries while a third person suffered an open leg fracture, PerthNow reports.
Another two patients were being treated in hospital for shock. It is not clear what caused the balcony to collapse.
