Three businesses destroyed after fire in south Brisbane

Three businesses have been destroyed after a blaze tore through a complex in Mooroka, south of Brisbane’s CBD, early this morning.

Baker Tran Tot called emergency services around 3am when he noticed smoke engulfing the Beaudesert Road building.

“I just saw smoke… then police and fire (services) came and I just took video,” Mr Tot told 9NEWS.

On the ground floor, a childcare centre, accountant’s office and a podiatrist’s office sustained severe water damage.

Several office spaces were gutted by fire on the upper floor.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman Ross Cutugno said the crews did a “very good job” to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby businesses.

“It did get intense after it broke out through the windows and got some oxygen,” Mr Cutgno said.

Seven fire trucks and six crews helped to fight the fire.

The blaze caused the closure of Beaudesert Road for several hours.
