Thieves steal $20,000 in Victorian surf shop ram raid

Thieves have been captured on camera smashing a stolen ute into a surf shop near Geelong and stealing an estimated $20,000 worth of stock.

CCTV video shows the stolen car crashing through the front entrance of the Drysdale business, following the removal of a footpath bollard, on Clifton Springs Road at about 1am yesterday.

The driver accelerates then reverses a second time, ploughing through stock, before three masked men emerge.

They then proceed to ransack the store, snatching hoodies, T-shirts, tracksuit pants, caps, beanies, watches, sunglasses and socks.

Lining the ute’s tray with a sheet, the thieves throw in armful after armful of goods, with a total value of $20,000.

Owner, mother-of-four Naomi Patten, said she’s devastated by the burglary, which has left her of a repair bill of $30,000.

Yesterday’s ram raid marks the sixth time in 18 months Ms Patten’s business has been robbed.

While she has since installed security cameras, a new alarm system and metal mesh on her windows, she continues to be targeted by thieves.

Police believe the burglars will be selling the stolen goods.
