Adelaide teens pass out on train tracks

A terrified train driver was forced to slam on the brakes after spotting two teens motionless on the tracks in Adelaide’s north.

Video captured the moment police rushed onto the tracks to find the teenagers passed out on the tracks.

It took two policemen to remove the youths from the tracks to the platform.

“Hey, hey, wake up, c’mon, get off the tracks, what’s your name?” a cop said to one of the teens.

One of the teenagers was taken to hospital while the other was given a ride home by police.

The Rail Union spokesperson for South Australia Darren Phillips told Nine.com.au the incident was an ongoing problem.

“It happens quite often with people entering into the track area, as we call the rail corridor, it’s not uncommon," he said.

“It’s very distressing for a train drive to come along and see anyone within that train corridor, even if they’re a few metres from the track, you don’t know what they’re going to do so it can be quite distressing."

Phillips said the public need to “treat the track area with respect” as it is “an unsafe place to be”.

However, he does believe the measures in place by government “are helpful for safety”.

The pair will not face any charges.
