Malcolm Turnbull to make first Tasmanian visit as PM

Malcolm Turnbull is expected to make his first trip to Tasmania as prime minister today.

More than six weeks after he took over Liberal Party leadership, Mr Turnbull's itinerary is due to start in Hobart, before heading north. His visit could possibly stretch into Friday.

Former prime minister Tony Abbott was a regular visitor to the island state, where the Liberals hold three seats.
