Tas police probe latest deliberate fire

A family holiday home in southern Tasmania has been gutted by fire, leaving a repair bill of up to $300,000, in the latest in a string of recent deliberately lit blazes across the state.

Emergency crews were called to the burning vacant property at Primrose Sands, east of Hobart, at about 8.15pm (AEST) on Monday and police have since determined the fire was lit on purpose.

It comes after a vacant house at New Norfolk sustained $300,000 worth of fire damage overnight Saturday in another deliberate act, and the prosecution of three teenagers for two other fires in the same town between Friday and Sunday.
