Subsidies extended for Tasmanian farmers

Tasmanian farmers have been thrown a lifeline with the extension of a subsidy for irrigation, livestock feed and suicide prevention.

The Tasmanian government will continue to provide a 75 per cent subsidy for irrigation electricity connection for the next two years, and fund emergency livestock feed during drought.

An outreach worker will also spend three days per month on King Island to assist workers who are dealing with job losses after the closure of a major abattoir.
