Pedestrian killed on Tasmanian highway

A 43-year-old man was killed instantly when hit by a 4WD while walking on the South Arm Highway at Howrah near Hobart.

Police say a 51-year-old woman was driving the Mitsubishi Pajero that struck the pedestrian about 11.30pm on Friday.

She left the scene but later presented herself at the Bellerive Police Station.
