Good Samaritan helps with Tas arrest

A passing motorist has helped a Tasmanian police officer nab an offender by giving her a lift.

The 29-year-old man was fleeing police on the Midland Highway at Brighton near Hobart on Friday when he jumped into a woman's car and tried to take control, but she refused and forced the man to continue on foot.

An officer was chasing the man when a good Samaritan stopped and offered her a ride, allowing the policewoman to arrest the Bagdad man, who faces family violence and other charges.
