Flood assistance kicks in for Tasmania

Tasmanians who lost income during devastating floods will be able to access financial assistance with the activation of the national support scheme.

Heavy rain in early June cost the lives of two Tasmanians with a third person still missing, but also meant many people suffered lost income.

"The Disaster Recovery Allowance is now available for eligible employees, small businesses and primary producers following the June floods," Tasmanian Flood Recovery Taskforce commander Peter Edwards said on Tuesday, urging those affected to take advantage of the assistance which is available for up to 13 weeks.
