Biodiversity is key to helping marine wildlife survive warming ocean temperatures, a new study has found.

Scientists from Hobart's Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies led the research, which included a survey of more than 3000 fish species in 44 countries.

The study, published on Tuesday, confirms that biodiversity is a key factor needed for fish to thrive because marine communities with more fish species are more productive and more resilient to fluctuating and rising temperatures.
