Teens winched to safety after trying to retrieve phone

Two high-school aged boys have been rescued by a helicopter after trying to retrieve a lost phone.

Emergency services were called to Cathedral Range Park, Taggerty, following reports that two teens were stuck around 10.30am.

It’s believed one of the boys dropped his phone down a cliff on North Jawbone Track and was trying to get it back when he ran into trouble.

The 9NEWS chopper captured the helicopter performing a high-angle rescue.

One teen has been taken to The Royal Children’s Hospital with minor injuries to his shoulder and ankle, and is in a stable condition.

The other teen did not require hospitalisation.
