Man charged after alleged stabbing at Sydney house party

A man has been charged after two men were allegedly stabbed at a house party in an affluent suburb on Sydney's Upper North Shore yesterday morning.

Emergency services were called to North Turramurra about 2am after an alleged brawl broke out at the home.

One 28-year-old man, believed to be a guest, suffered several stab wounds to the chest and stomach.

The party's host, identified as 31-year-old Matthew Harper, was allegedly knifed in the leg.

Both men are expected to undergo surgery for non-life-threatening wounds, police said.

"I woke up and it was like people sounding like they were having a punch on," a witness told 9News.

Another witness said they heard girls screaming and running onto the road.

"It was quite scary, yeah, I just thought it was some people that had been to a party, but then it got really nasty," said a neighbour.

Police located a bloody knife outside a nearby home.

A 30-year-old man was arrested and taken to hospital under police guard for treatment of facial injuries. 

He has since been released from care, and charged with multiple offences including wounding and affray.

He was refused bail and will appear in court today.

Residents told police parties were becoming a regular occurrence on the street but that they didn't recognise the men.

They said loud music could be heard about midday yesterday with initially 20 people gathering but 12 hours later shouting and screaming began. 

"They didn't look like people who are from the neighbourhood to be honest," one person said.
