Sydney Trains: Emergency trackwork sparks major delays

Powered by

Emergency track work on the Sydney train network has caused major delays for commuters heading around the city.

Earlier this morning the Transport Management Centre said trains were only moving in one direction on the city circle line from Central via Museum.

Rail crews moved quickly to repair a cracked rail between Town Hall and Wynyard stations.

The delays caused long queues at Central station as people crammed into trains on a different line.

The tracks have now been opened with trains moving in both directions.

Passengers are advised to allow additional travel time on the T2 Inner West and Leppington Line, T3 Bankstown Line and T8 Airport and South Line as services return to normal.
