Pedestrian critical after fiery car crash in inner Sydney
A pedestrian is in a critical condition with a suspected fractured skull after a fiery crash in inner-city Sydney.
Passersby found the injured man lying in the road at the corner of Oxford Street and Wentworth Avenue in Surry Hills about 11.30pm yesterday and treated him before he was rushed to hospital.
Witnesses told police a blue Toyota Yaris hatchback hit the 33-year-old man as he crossed at the pedestrian crossing, before slamming into a parked SUV and catching fire.

The pedestrian was taken to St Vincent's Hospital and remains in the intensive care unit.

Police allege the man was struck by the Toyota on Oxford Street at Wentworth Avenue corner and did not stop.
Officers are still searching for the driver.
