'I wasn't': Unaccompanied learner driver's reason for running from police after hitting 153kph
An unaccompanied learner driver who allegedly hit 153kph and led police on a chase denied running, saying he just wanted to get home to his sick kids.
Highway patrol police detected a white Mitsubishi travelling at 53kph faster than the 100kph limit overtaking a semi-trailer on the M7 about 8.30pm last week Tuesday.
Police said a pursuit broke out after an attempt to stop the car until it came to a stop on Quakers Hill Parkway in Quakers Hill.

The 24-year-old man behind the wheel showed cops his learner's licence, despite having green P-Plates displayed on his car.
Police said they asked the man why he was running, to which he said: "I wasn't, I just wanted to get home. My kids are sick."
"I was just trying to get the car home."

The man was arrested and taken to Riverstone Police Station, where a breath test returned a negative result.
He was issued an infringement notice, his licence was suspended for six months and his registration plates were seized.
He was also charged with a range of road offences, including not displaying "L" plates as and failing to notify change of residential address.
