Sydney suffers through coldest morning and tomorrow will be even colder

Parts of New South Wales, including some Sydney suburbs, have just had their coldest morning of the year, but tomorrow morning is set to be even colder.

Some of the suburbs and towns which shivered through their coldest morning of the year, include Bankstown which dropped to 2.4 degrees, Canterbury, 2.5 degrees, Homebush, 3.3 degrees, Bellambi, 6.6 degrees and Kiama at 7.0 degrees.

But if you thought there may have been a chance that was the last of it, you were wrong.

Suburbs around Sydney with a fair chance to have another extremely cold morning tomorrow are Sydney City, which will drop to 6 degrees, Mascot, also 6 degrees, Terrey Hills will drop to 4 degrees, Penrith will be an icy 1 degree, Katoomba will drop below zero to -1 degree and Trangie will also sit at the zero mark.

Clear skies and drying winds are the contributing to the recent chilly mornings. 

A cold front currently crossing southeastern Australia is bringing snow to the Alps but further north, it is effectively drying out winds and keeping skies clear.

So come tonight as we approach the longest night of the year, winds in central NSW will dry out while skies will remain almost totally clear, giving the region its cold morning of the year.

Once a stronger snow-bearing front ploughs through,  it will most likely get colder in a little over a week.
