Elderly woman found dead in Sydney unit fire

An elderly woman has been found dead after a fire ripped through a home in Sydney's north-west.
NSW Fire and Rescue extinguished the fire at a unit on Church Street in Ryde just before 11am and found the body of a woman inside.
The fire was contained within the unit but it was damaged extensively.

Officers are investigating the cause of the fire and a crime scene has been established.
The woman is yet to be identified and investigations are ongoing.
