Sydney man charged with high-range drink driving after 'speeding past police'

A man has been charged with high-range drink-driving after allegedly speeding past police yesterday morning.

The driver was travelling down Welling Drive in Narrellan Vale in Sydney's west just before 11am when he was allegedly recorded by police travelling nearly 20km/h over the speed limit.

He was pulled over and breath tested, which allegedly proved positive.

The 49-year-old was arrested and taken to Narellan Police Station where he underwent a breath analysis which allegedly returned a positive reading of 0.205.

He has been charged with exceeding the speed limit by 10km/h and high-range PCA.

His licence was immediately suspended.

He will front Picton Local Court on December 10.
