Man charged over alleged 4WD hit-run in Sydney's south

A Sydney man has been charged over an alleged hit-run involving a 4WD in Cronulla, in the city's south-east. 9News

A man has been charged after he allegedly deliberately ran over a man in Sydney's south and sped away from the scene.

NSW Police say the man, 50, was driving a four-wheel drive when he initially struck a 46-year-old man's vehicle outside a Cronulla home in the early hours of today.

Detectives say the 50-year-old then deliberately ran over the younger man who was taken to Sutherland Hospital in a stable condition with injuries to his arms and torso.

"Following inquiries, the 4WD was located and seized for forensic examination outside a home on Toronto Parade, Sutherland, about 3.30am," police said in a statement today.

"The driver... was arrested at the property."

The 50-year-old was subsequently charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and reckless driving.
