Suspicious device found in Ipswich home sparks emergency situation

Police have cordoned off streets in the Ipswich suburb of Eastern Heights after finding a suspicious device in a home.
Officers have declared an emergency situation under the Public Safety Preservation Act, and have urged motorists to avoid the area.

The declaration was made just after 2pm. The device was found in a home near Cemetery Road.
Cordons have been put in place near the intersections of Chermside Road, Jackes Street and Whitehill Road.
Police have advised there no further information available at this stage.
