Missing support dog ecstatic to reunite with veteran owner

An army veteran's support dog that mysteriously disappeared from a property in Adelaide's north has been reunited with its owner.

Brian, a three-year-old bull mastiff, went missing from his Uleybury home in South Australia last Thursday, sparking a desperate search.

Owner Brenton Lawrence feared his dog - who he describes as his "best mate" - had been stolen.

Brian is a post-traumatic stress disorder support dog for Brenton, who served in the Australian army.

He issued an appeal for his return - offering a $2000 reward - to the person who brought Brian back home.

Finally after six sleepless nights, Brenton was reunited with his much-loved dog.

A man returned Brian to Brenton last night.

"Absolutely overwhelming," Brenton said.

"I didn't think we had any hope in hell in getting him back."

Brian was just as ecstatic to see his owner.

"Rolled around and was an idiot with me for a while and then ate and went to sleep," Brenton said.

Police are investigating whether he was stolen.
