Three people remain on the run while one person has been charged with dangerous driving causing death following a fatal collision in Melbourne's west.

A white Audi sedan and a gold Honda sedan collided at the intersection of Links and Glengala roads in Sunshine West just before 1am.

The impact of the collision then led to both vehicles crashing into two cars parked on Links Road.

The 69-year-old Honda driver, who has been identified as Sunshine West local Sedat Hassan, died at the scene.

He was the only person in the car.

One person who was in the Audi, a 22-year-old Wyndham woman, has also been charged with multiple offences including dangerous driving causing death and committing an indictable offence whilst on bail.

Police continue to search for the three people that fled the scene, labelling them as "cowardly".

The trio were caught on CCTV running from the scene.

Detective Sergeant Stephen Hill has described their decision to flee the scene as "cowardly".

"It's a real bastard act to leave a person dying on the side of the road as a result of a collision you've been involved in," he said.

Police believe the know the identities of the people they are searching for.

It is believed the Audi had been travelling north along Links Road and the Honda had been travelling east on Glengala Road when the cars collided.

The 22-year-old woman will appear before the Sunshine Magistrates' Court this afternoon.

Police want to speak to any witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage.
