Two teens have been charged after a 15-year-old boy was stabbed in the stomach on the Gold Coast yesterday afternoon.

Paramedics found the teenager "stabbed on the ground" at Hillcrest Parade – about 500m from Miami State High school – Queensland Ambulance operations supervisor Jayson Hacker said.

The boy had abdominal injuries and was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition, Mr Hacker said.

Witnesses said the victim was bleeding heavily and has collapsed outside a caryard.

"There was blood profusely pouring out of his stomach - we laid him down here on the grass and raced in and got a swab," businessman Mark Storay told the ABC.

Police believe the boy had just finished an exam and was walking with a friend when the stabbing occurred about 12.45pm (AEST).

It is alleged the two attackers got into a verbal altercation with the victim before a knife was produced and he was stabbed once in the abdomen.

It is believed the stabbing may have been sparked by a dispute on social media.

Police said they have since charged a 15-year-old boy from Mermaid Waters with grievous bodily harm and armed robbery and another 15-year-old boy from Miami with armed robbery.

Both will be dealt under the Youth Justice Act.
