Young man arrested over six-car crash on Sydney road

A young man has been charged after a six-car crash in Sydney sent five others to hospital yesterday evening.

The 22-year-old is accused of causing the massive crash on Liverpool Road in Strathfield about 6.50pm.

Five men, aged between 24 and 41, were treated by paramedics before being taken to Concord and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals in stable conditions.

The 22-year-old from Greenacre was arrested at the scene and taken to Auburn Police Station.

He was charged with drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, failing to stop and render assistance, five counts of causing bodily harm by misconduct while in charge of motor vehicle, and possessing a prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today.

The Crash Investigation Unit and officers from Auburn Police Area Command are investigating the crash.
