Man stabbed with butter knife at popular Bondi bar

Police are hunting a man after a patron was stabbed at popular Bondi Beach venue Ravesis.

Two men became involved in an argument near the entrance to the Campbell Parade bar at 9.30pm.

It is alleged one of the men picked up a butter knife and stabbed the other man.

Emergency services arrived a short time later and found a 35-year-old man with injuries to his chest and hand.

The victim was taken to Sydney Eye Hospital in a stable condition.

“We don’t know if the two men are known to each other,” Inspector Paul Sly from Waverley Police told 9NEWS.

The suspect ran from the scene after the stabbing occurred

“We are currently going through CCTV footage to identify the suspect,” he added.

Ravesis aired last night’s Australia-France World Cup match and it is understood the bar was packed with fans watching the match.

“We don’t believe it was an altercation relating to the soccer, it’s just two people having an argument over unknown reasons,” Insp. Sly said.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have phone footage of the incident to come forward.

The suspect is described as Caucasian appearance, around 30 years old, between 170-175cm tall, of a solid build, short blond shaved head, and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt with a pattern on it.

The victim has since been released from hospital and police will speak with him about last night’s incident.
