Man charged after alleged road rage assault in Melbourne's southeast

A man has been charged following an alleged road rage incident in Melbourne's south-east yesterday afternoon.

Police allege three men were involved in the incident on Springvale Road, Springvale just after 4pm.

In CCTV footage, three men are seen standing on the footpath when one man, wearing shorts, appears to raise his right fist and punch another man in the jaw.

The victim, a man aged in his 50s, then falls back onto the footpath as his alleged attacker runs away.

Emergency services arrived a short time later and treated the victim before taking him to hospital with serious injuries.

Police attended an address on Theodore Avenue, Noble Park a short time later and arrested a 20-year-old man as part of their investigation into the incident.

He has since been charged with assault and cannabis possession.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone who may have witnessed the assault or has dashcam footage is advised to contact CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
