The Royal Australian Mint created the coin to recognise the determination and commitment of Australian firefighters, particularly those who confronted the 2019/2020 summer bushfires.

The Mint declared $125,000 of sale proceeds will go to fire and emergency service organisations across the country, including the CFA.

"This coin will reach communities across the country and will highlight the risk our members take each and every day to keep Victorian communities safe," CFA Acting CEO Catherine Greaves said.

The proceeds will go towards purchasing and maintaining brigade firefighting equipment.

The new $2 coin has been made available to banks for circulation across Australia.
