Man charged after 'unprovoked' attack at Perth beach leaves man fighting for life

A man has been charged over an alleged random attack on another man at a Perth beach that left him fighting for his life.

The 44-year-old from Hamilton Hill allegedly punched another 44-year-old in an "unprovoked attack" at the northern end of South Beach in South Fremantle on Tuesday afternoon.

The man was knocked unconscious and was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital, where he was placed in the intensive care unit.

Police said they don't believe the two men knew each other on Wednesday.

The Hamilton Hill man was charged with grievous bodily harm this morning.

He will face Fremantle Magistrates Court today.
