'Bricks were flying': Couple woken by car slamming through bedroom wall

A couple in Sydney's west got the shock of a lifetime after a car slammed through their bedroom wall while they were sound asleep.

Smithfield residents Stanley and Chicka were sleeping when the BMW four wheel drive crashed through their bedroom at the front of the house about 11pm.

The BMW first collided with a Hyundai at the corner of Burke and Brown streets in Smithfield before it mounted the footpath and flew through the front wall of the home.

"We were woken... It felt like an earthquake or whatever. That was the sound, we thought that the house was falling," resident Chicka Chukwueke said.

"It was God that saved us because bricks were flying."

Miraculously, no one was hurt in the incident.

Neighbours told 9News they saw the BMW speeding down the street before the crash.

"Here are people who normally speed at night when everywhere is quiet and calm they race," the resident's brother Amaechi Obichare said.

"We're just very glad that they came out unscathed."

The couple had only just finished renovating their entire home two months ago, and will now have to renovate again.
