Sleeping 96-year-old woken by burglar in home invasion
An elderly woman has been woken by a burglar raiding her Melbourne home this morning.
Sofia Barbopoulos, 96, was asleep in her bed when the offender broke into the Gertrude Street, St Albans, residence just after 4.30am.
She was woken by the robber, who demanded cash and valuables.
“He said ‘I want to find your money’,” Ms Barbopoulos said this morning.
The criminal then fled on foot in an unknown direction. He is described as being tall, with a thin build and was wearing dark clothing.
Ms Barbopoulos’ son described her as being an “independent” woman, and said it was a “relief the robber did no further harm.
